Basement Photo Friday – Melting Snow and Spring Rains Means Wet Basement and Flood Potential
Mar 27, 2015It is said that for every 10 inches of snow that melts, an inch of rain is left behind. Is your basement ready?
This Spring is going to be a wet one due to the rain and the ridiculously large amount of snow that has fallen in NH and MA areas.
Lessen the chance of snow melt and rain flooding the basement by doing a few simple things:
Shovel remaining snow away from your house and from the foundation.
Clear the gutters so that the snow melt and rain can freely flow.
Point gutter downspouts away from the foundation so water flows from the foundation.
Have your sump pump serviced if it has not been serviced within the last 12 months.
Install a sump pump, especially if your basement has been wet or flooded in the past.
